Choose Sustainable Luxury
‘There is no planet B’. This simple message can be found in many corners of Karma Chalets. As humans, we have taken more than we should have from Mother Nature. The goal at the Hotel is to reduce our carbon footprint to zero, and become self-sustaining. Some of the initiatives are introduction of solar panels, energy-saving cards for every Chalet room, and increasing green cover. At the same time, encouraging our patrons to move to E-vehicles.
We aspire for our vision to impact our guests, at the same time, we do wish for our guests to be inspired by our initiatives, and take back with them some of these ideas to be implemented in their day-to-day lives. At Karma Chalets our wish is to be synonymous with ‘sustainability’. Our journey towards this has just begun, but we have a long way to go!
Waste segregation
All Kitchen-Waste from 'Under The Neem' is sorted on-site, and recycled to feed the farm animals at Karma Lakelands, or used for making organic compost. In the Chalets, we have separate dustbins for dry and wet waste, and encourage guests to be a part of this process. To take back a new practice, and imbibe it in their daily lives as well.
No 'single-use plastic' policy
At Karma Chalets, we discourage the use of single-use plastic as far as possible. In every Chalet, glass bottles with RO water are placed instead of plastic bottles. In the restaurant as well, we offer RO water to all our guests. One will have to search really hard to find any sign of plastic anywhere once they enter Karma Lakelands.
Sustainable construction materials
Around Karma Chalets, you will see extensive use of sustainable construction materials like bamboo and wood. Partitions, Jhopdi and even our solarium roof is made using bamboo. The concept of upcycling, and reusing, all kinds of building material has become second nature to us now. Repainting and reusing old wooden material is often done to live harmoniously with nature.
Move To E-Vehicles
In our support of guests that drive E-Vehicles, we extend special offers at both Karma Chalets and Under The Neem. Additionally, Charging Stations are located at Klub Karma, accessible to all. We encourage drivers in the parking lot to turn-off their engines in order to reduce unnecessary emissions, conserve fuel and overall reduce carbon footprints.
Saving Water
Eco Urinal Bio Blocks are used in all urinals which help in saving more than 1,00,000 liters of potable water each year. The process of mulching is widely used in our Kitchen garden area and helps the soil around plants and trees remain moist, and therefore, lesser water is consumed for watering. We only use recycled water for irrigation at Karma Chalets.
E-Waste Collection
In collaboration with Earth Sense Pvt. Ltd. and Karma Lakelands, E-waste is collected for proper management and disposal. Guests are encouraged to bring along with them their E-waste and deposit it for proper disposal when visiting for overnight stay or simply to dine-in with us.
Seasonal Produce
Adopting a farm-to-table dining experience, Under The Neem’s menu is one that changes with the season. This makes it possible to procure our raw material from areas closer to Delhi NCR, and therefore ensuring a lower carbon footprint. Most of our produce is sourced from Sabz Bagh, our family-owned organic farm located in Chattarpur, New Delhi.
