Karma Chalets

A Midsummer’s Day

“Whether it is the best of times, or the worst of times, it is the only time we’ve got.”- By Art Buchwald
Sometimes, the best way to reconnect is to disconnect. And this lockdown..
From the world? We did.
From family? We did.
From our friends? We did.
From ourselves? Did we..?

The day we had decided to close Karma Chalets, we were at a loss. Not because we had to shut down; but because time had left us feeling helpless. Our team, who would usually feel great happiness while going back home during breaks, felt no rush to head back home this time around. Had time stopped? Or was it us just standing in one place with no destination in mind?

Eventually, the time spent at home got better, the days did not seem as monotonous and spending time with family was just what our team needed then.

We were longing for the day we all could meet once again, bask under the neem tree, share a cuppa with each other between breaks, pass each other along the pathways and throw a quick smile for a job well done!

Staying connected with all of you, our patrons, was the only thing that had kept Karma Chalets going. A hope that all of you would still be there with us when we finally open our doors. Oh, and weren’t we lucky to have you!

11th June, 2021.
The day we had been patiently awaiting for weeks! Our team – armed and ready, were finally coming back ‘home’ from all over the country. I’m a little excited and a lot nervous. Nonetheless – delighted to be on their feet again.

The day was hot, a little dry and with practically no clouds in the sky. The trees seemed greener, as if a filter had been added to them; the birds and bees were there as usual, chirping and buzzing along as we walked.. The sun bore down heavy on our necks, not used to the hot weather after weeks of staying indoors.

It wasn’t the perfect day, far from it; but we all were living in the moment.
A hope that blossomed one midsummer’s day.
